Mark, So glad to see so many of the fantastic musicians from my past still going strong. I was a HUGE Vanilla Fudge fan and certainly Carmine was a great influence on my drumming. I'll have a listen...I'm sure it's "Magik.".......Dno

As a fellow keyboardist, I find it dificult to shine when all there are out there are the same old generic bands with the bassist, the guitarist and the drummer. But you; WoW I was very impressed when I saw you perform at the Bell Center in Quebec! You are a Keyboard legend!!! Keep it up!

I go wayyyyyy back with this band and it's truly amazing music .Talk about a group of musicians making a song their own !Fudge has always created a sense that something different was/is possible .They also personified the word " tight ".Grateful that they have bridged the gaps enough to play together again .The "scene" needs this type of pure talent .This type of ability should not lay dormant.I simply wore out my albums from the very start of their careers and have followed them individually as well.Bogart and Appice truly provide the power needed to allow others to prevail and it is tremendous . God Bless you guys for what you've given us musically. Rey Alvarado

Come back to Jersey after the Doors tour. Now that you're back everything is right. John

Got tickets for all the brother in laws for the 6/21/05 show at the Oakdale in Ct. Forget about the Doors and all the other bands. There is not a group of musicians ever that fills the venues with this type of sound and excitement. All together again is so powerful. I was with Jimmy Greenspoon and Danny Hutton and the boys from Three Dog Night a few years ago (my group opened for the Dog and the Fudge twice in CT,)and the Fudge came up in our conversations. "They're like playing in "slow motion". Had to chuckle. At Sacred Heart University in Bridgeport CT, they blew the roof of the building. I am leading the charge back to Oakdale for one reason, to hear one of the most talented group of musicians that not only play at a much higher level but bring you along with them. What energy! Go Fudge....I would love to see you guys play at the WARNER THEATRE in Torrington, CT. The Dog sold out 2 shows Just bring the Fudge, no one else and it will sell out quick....trust me.... go VF.....Shot Gun, Hangin On, Ticket to Ride.... What a sound......

It's great you guys got it together. Vanilla Fudge is timeless, like classical music. Not classic rock but classical. The first, last & only time was Feb. 1969 @ Chicago's Kinetic Playground w/ Zep & Tull opening. My first big time concert at 17 years old. I was in shock for weeks. First the unknown Tull, then the unknown band with the guy from the Yardbirds. I was approaching nirvana & then you guys came out & put it, me, & everyone else down for the count. Everybody smoked but there was no doubt Vanilla Fudge was the headliner. Your albums were & still are inspirational, but the concert solidified my love & appreciation of music & reminds me just how illuminating it can be. Why isn't Vanilla Fudge in the R Hall of Fame? I play guitar & there's a handful of albums I regularly play to get the juices flowing & Vanilla Fudge is right there with Richard Rogers, Zeppelin, Michel LeGrand, & others. Chicago keeps getting cancelled, so hopefully there'll be a concert video. Good luck. Hope to see you again, one way or the other. For now I'll check out White Magik & The Real Deal. I'm anxious to hear America the Beautiful. She really is & will be more so when we get her back on track & united, hopefully sooner rather than later & before it's too late. Peace, Pat

Mark, Thanks for guiding the rest of us when we were looking for superior direction. Your B3 work is absolutely tops! One of my all time favorite albums is the Vanilla Fudge Live album, where it's obvious just how superior Vanilla Fudge was for the times. I read where Yes gave you a lot of credit for their sound. It's obvious in a few of their early tunes. Only regret I have in life is I never got to see you play live. But my brother and I sure spent years trying to imitate the Fudge 4 piece sound. Lance Armstrong Plano, Tx

PS At my house, it's not about the bike, it's about the Keyboards,k specifically the Hammond B3 (Stein influenced).

Mark... Your music inspired me and sent me to mars when I was a kid. Ultimtely, it was the combination of you and the rest of Fudge....I heard you on Bolin, I heard you on Mason, and I heard your freebie. Dude...you are an amazing B3 player and there ain't many, and that instrument needs to rock. I don't need to let you know or remind you of Atomic Rooster or Deep Purple....The Hammond is something that's not heard much because it is an awkward instrument to move and play......anyway thank you. God bless you. I hope you might real the rifts and sores that plague Vanilla Fudge and that......me included...we're all getting old. I do know from your past recordings as well as the fresh ones that you're a Godly man. Please forgive and forget the stupidity of those who don't understand, and give us Vanilla Fudge as it should be. God bless you Mark. Yer awesome. -Jim

You look good. I have over the years wondered what became of you. I do not know why, but I felt I had to go on line and find out if you existed. I have most if not all of your albums with the fudge and one of your first 45's magic rose and flip side come back to my heart. I hope you are well. I send you my regards.

I thought you might be interested in The Tropical Rainforest Coalition, a nonprofit that specifically raises money and buys tropical rainforest land, protecting it in perpetuity by creating or adding to national preserves etc. TRC has been in existence for over 10 years and was founded by my husband, Alex Rubin. They frequently partner with other major players in environmental preservation, but TRC is different in that its operating overhead is less than 3% of what it brings in. If your organization would like to team up with TRC for any of their amazing projects, from rainforest preservation to species protection to cultural preservation (ie passing rainforest shamanistic traditions down to the youth of those cultures), please see TRC website www.rainforest.org or contact Alex Rubin at 408-847-6558.

It sounds like you had a back injury and possibly surgery. I hope you recover well. I am a chiro by profession and sympathize!

I saw you guys (with other acts on the bill) four times in the Vanilla Fudge heyday. I never liked you. I never liked to hear you on the radio. VF soul just wasn't my style

But you guys were young lions! You played emotional, heart felt music loud as hell! Your HB-3 organ rocked the rafters! You made a deep dent back in the good old days. The kids in music today have no idea what it is to really crank it out, like you guys did.

Glad to see you at your website. You look great! Keep on rockin' in the Free World.

Another voice from your distant past. Sophie Berkin's nephew, Jack and Jeanette Krull's son.

I read the recent blurb in the Sun- Sentinel and figured, what the hell.

I live in Boca and, until March, was still working gigs at clubs and private parties. Now officially retired, looking after mom. Live around the corner from Sophie as well.

Good luck on your latest venture.

The first time I heard Mark's voice on "Hangin' On", my reaction was the same as the first time I heard "Purple Haze" and that was "Who the hell is that?" There was a profound impression, as much as seeing The Beatles for the first time on Ed Sullivan.

What a talent,,,,, what a voice! And oh by the way, "Break Song" is a masterpiece.

Best wishes always Mark, to you and your family.

It's nice to know that Mark is still alive and playing and recording. I wish the Boomerang and The pigeons albums could appear on cd, there's a lot of good songs there according to the samples; I'd really like to have them. There's some good music today but is not comparable to those years. And of course Vanilla Fudge was responsible for much of that was produced in those years that evolved to the 70's.

mark, the fudge lives on forever. those were the days. i feel sorry for the young generation today. they're lost in their music scene. i know they're selling cds, but the scene, it's going nowhere. i'm 50 and listening to the music of our time i get the same rush i got back when i heard the "music". imagine this generation , in their 60s & 70s, if they don't go deaf by then, listening to hardcore rap in the presence, say for instance, of their grandchildren. we had it all. thanks so much for the great sounds and memories.

Mark, your a master on the key board. No one can play like you, especially when you have one hand on the keys and one in the air, sounding like both on the key board.

Mark,

Between, I think 1966 - 1968,I used to see (you guys)...The Vanilla Fudge, playing in Newport, Rhode Island. I was 16 at the time, and my friends and I could hardly wait for Friday & Saturday nights to hear you....You guys were the Best & Heaviest Band we'd had ever seen... Why we would look at each other crosseyed in disbelief......

Because of your band and others like you, I studied the guitar, (all styles),and am currently in a Jazz Band, soon to play in our local.

An interesting thing happen to me about 4 years ago. Tim Bogart was playing in one of my friends bands, "The Pat Hennessy Group", in Huntington Beach, CA..Pat introduced me, and Tim and I had a good laugh and smoke!!!!!.....What a trip!!!!! God Bless your continued success and today, you look as good as you did in the sixties, when you were whalling and jamming to "You Keep me hanging on"....

Hi Mark, I'm 18, from NJ, a HUGE classic rock fan, and a good friend of your nephew Ryan; and when I found out that your were related to him, I was floored! I really admire your work with Vanilla Fudge back in the 60's and I just bought myself a copy of "White Magik." I haven't been able to stop listening to it! The music is so full of passion and is unlike anything I've heard in a long, long time. You have done an amazing job with all of the tracks on the CD, from "American Dream" to "Let's Pray for Peace." It's a real breath of fresh air to see one of classic rock's best still at it and bringing real music back to the world. Keep the music alive and Best of Luck with the new album!

Sincerely, Jeff M.

Mark, I have been listening to the FUDGE since I was about 12 and still enjoy the music very much. Near the beginning album was probably the best live cut ever. Powerful, real rock and roll. I've got the album and cd. I hope you can autograph it for me someday. The best part is hearing the FUDGE on the radio today. It brings back alot of good memories for me. You guys got me through alot of hard times when growing up. I also got yelled at alot for turning up the FUDGE on my record player to no end. I've got all the old albums. Miss you with the band, but I still hope to see you play live again with the original members. TAKE CARE.

Mark,

I recently found your website after finding the website of the Vanilla Fudge. I am a 48 year old professional musician who is also a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist, and a professional martial arts instructor.

I have been a fan of the Vanilla Fudge since 1967. In fact, the Fudge had an enormous impact on my early musical development. My early bands covered the Vanilla Fudge songs, and we emulated your style. I am a bass player who has also evolved into a classical cellist and jazz pianist. I ended up attending and graduating from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in the 1970's. After that, I have had a rich but rather anonymous musical career, that is still developing (in conjunction to my other professional careers. Seeing your website and the Vanilla Fudge's website brought back some precious early memories.

Around 1971, the Vanilla Fudge played a concert in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, next to my home town. I helped that day to set up the civic center that you played at, and attended the concert that evening.

Immediately after the show, I talked another worker into letting me in the dressing area (a locker room) to meet at least one of my musical idols. I was a star struck 15 year old musician. I was briefly introduced to you. You were very gracious, and I never forgot that. It was a thrilling moment for me, that I never forgot. I just wanted to thank you after all these years for being so kind to a goofy 15 year old. It meant a lot to me!

I have left my e-mail and website in your guestbook, if you would like to see who I am today. My current website does'nt say much about my musical career, but we are going to enhance that.

I live in Leominster, MA, about an hour west of Boston by car. If you are ever in Boston and would like to meet a large group of middle aged but still great musician fans, please contact me.

One again, thanks for being so kind over 30 years ago!

A lifelong fan,

Dr. Frank E. Vargo

The year was '67. I was gigging on a b3 with a NY band called the Child. WE were finished for the night and strolled into Unganos. You were tearing up the b3 solo just messing around. I learned more that night than all before. THANKS.I have been ministering in churches for the past 25 years. I don't know if you lead a spiritual life, and would never pry. Suffice it to say that in a most indirect way God has used my hands to lead many to Him, and you were the teacher.Thank you so much. Joe

To all the loyal Fudge Fans i have the pleasure of a great friendship w/ Mark, patty, richie & chowchow. I urge you loyals to push Mark back out there solo.I got to here him play many times in the comfort of his home. He actualy chose the version of AMERICA in my living room after listening to several versions on my BOSE SYSTEM. Talk about being moved by a song, and an artist so cool and down to earth. I just can't say enough about Patty either. I talk with them regularly and i encourage all the fans to keep on keepin'on and let's get this guy and that vanilla colored piano out there on tour.Let's face it music just isn't what it used to be. PEACE MAN

Mark--In Reference to "Sketch"--Was this from a Classical piece, or just you doing you're thing--It's still cool to listen to after 33 years, especially the left hand counter part in the latter segment--Also--It's very evident that you had a major part in final mixes--no regular producer would know how to mix that Bass Rotor like that--So Cool--You were, and still ahead of the times!!--Thanks, Carl Greeson

"The Fudge" & The Vagrants! Both played N.E. PA when I was haulin' my first Hammond and playing for $25 a night. Mark an infuence as strong as Jimmy Smith, and Felix C. for me. The Vagrants eventually morphed into Mountain, but as the Vagrants, they and our group played the same room. On the third floor of a dress factory in Scranton Pa. I remember a concert where "Purple" opened for the fudge in our area. (missed it) Good to see pics of one of the guys who made me want to ride a B-3, and make music my life. 5 years later, at our peak, we carried a "B" and four Leslies. The Hammonds are gone for me, replaced by a pair of Nord Electros, the Leslies, unnecessary, but the influence, and the chills at hearing the opening of KEEP ME HANGIN' ON remain. Thanks and hopes for continued success to the one of the many who inspired me to break MY back luggin' a "B". It was worth it!

Mark, wonderful Hammond work. I've been a fan of VF since I first heard you guys in the late '60s. You were the best live band I ever saw on Ed Sullivan. I've been a Hammond player for 40 years myself. Did some of your stuff. Loved every minute of it!
